Clear your calendars for this excellent series of FREE animation events,
happening at the Pacific Cinematheque, the Vancity Theatre and the Vancouver Public Library from October 26th to November 1st, 2009.  Watch the NFB’s latest animated films on the big screens, some in gorgeous 35mm, for FREE!  Attend workshops led by Oscar®-winning animator Chris Landreth (Ryan), and Bruce Alcock (Vive la Rose) ­ also, indeed, for FREE.
Bring your friends and colleagues, and come out and celebrate World Animation Day in style.

Get Animated! is a Canada-wide series of free screenings and activities from the National Film Board, to mark October 28th, 1892:  The date the first animated film was shown, by Emile Reynaud at the Musée Grévin in Paris.

You can also enjoy the NFB’s online film festival programmed exclusively for Get Animated!

9 pm: Show of Shows — Ron Diamond

A rare opportunity to see a program of some of the most exciting new animated films from around the world.  Curator Ron Diamond, of Acme Filmworks in L.A., will be in attendance at the shows and will be selling his compilation DVDs of these animated gems at the break.

7.30 pm: A special presentation with Bruce Alcock
9 pm: Animation Feast — NFB New Releases Program
Bruce Alcock speaks about the making of his latest film, Vive La Rose.   An
Internationally acclaimed director and producer, Bruce Alcock’s work ­ whether independent or commercial -  is known for its highly imaginative multi-media approach. His previous short film ‘At the Quinte Hotel’ has enjoyed a successful run on the festival circuit, playing at over fifty festivals worldwide including Sundance.
